The Special Request is a true tone enhancer. This pedal is a single knob boost, but there’s so much more going on with it.
The Special Request features a moderate amount of boost, and is based on the circuitry that is found in some of the world’s most expensive amplifiers. You know which ones we’re talking about, right? The ones that regularly sell for prices nearing $100,000. Let’s just say that their prices aren’t so Humble…and that’s where this D-Style FET Preamp comes into the picture! Some of those amps have a FET and a Normal input. The FET input is truly special. There’s a FET based preamp between the guitar, and the first gain stage. The Special Request is based on that circuitry. It features an internal voltage doubler, that pushes 9 volts to 18 volts, and should only be used with a 9 volt battery, or a 9 volt power supply.
Don’t let the single knob fool you—there’s more than meets the eye here. This pedal gives you a boost, but it also does a lot more. There’s a “feel” component that comes along with it. There’s some slight compression that happens, as well as some textural enhancement associated to a unique and selective midrange performance. Without being any brighter or harsh, the Special Request exposes clarity and more focus with both single notes and chords being more articulate. The Special Request can be set to unity gain to utilize its assertive tonal properties, or can equally be used to increase the touch sensitivity of a good tube amp. At higher settings the Special Request becomes more forceful with an amplifier pushing it further into saturation. The strong character of the Special Request has a particular talent in stacking with other drive pedals as well, creating a more focused, dynamic hi-gain sound.
Try it in front of your drives, as well as last in the signal chain, right before your amp. The unique response of this pedal provides different tonal options, in each position.

Bright and way cooler than standard whip lights!!
I got these for our Jeep as a cool accessory. We installed them and wow are they bright!!!
Out on the trails at night it looks like there are two towers of light following the jeep, it is neat. They install easily and include everything needed for the installation. All the hardware is well built and sealed to last in the conditions that you would expect these to be used in, hot, dusty, sandy, cold and wet. The housings are all aluminum and sealed from the elements. The connections to the lights are insert and then screw connector to seal, that way the connections don’t get corroded and fail. Everyone we have seen has asked about them and have really been impressed with the brightness of the light and quality of the craftsmanship. The only thing that I would say is a negative is the remote control, it is small and I am afraid I am going to lose it in the Jeep so I can’t imagine how it would be in an open-air vehicle, but there are ways to keep track of it.
Because the whip lights are not standard flailing sticks, they do not get caught on branches or have the potential for the sprint to break while out on the trail.
I am happy with the purchase even if they were a little expensive, the convenience and attractive looks made a huge difference.

Very cool light without the long whips
Yes, it was tough to change to whipless but it also meant I could benefit from the lighting without huge whips behind me. It’s a personal choice but these worked out great. Highly visible and bright and the install was pretty straightforward and simple. You get everything you need with the kit. They look good and seem to be holding up durability wise very well. Overall, I may not stay with them over time but it won’t be because of quality or function. It’ll be because I want to see the long whips again behind me.

Perfect fit for a Tacoma.
There are 2 headlight bulb retaining clips in this packet that fit my 2013 Tacoma. Fits perfect, no modifications needed to the clips. Toyota dealers do not sell these clips alone, they must be ordered with the headlight housing. eBay has one for $50!!! AMZN beats them all.
